Mongoose Dibbs BMX BikesSince being founded in a humble southern California garage back in 1974, Mongoose has been a true innovator when it comes to the sport of BMX.  Since then, they have achieved fame worldwide where if you hear the name Mongoose, it typically goes right along with “high performance bicycle.”  Since their first product – wheels made of cast-magnesium – they have branched out into making mountain bikes and pavement bikes, and of course what they are most famous for – BMX bikes.  Performance is what matters to Mongoose, and the Mongoose Dibbs Freestyle Bike is no exception.

Pros and Cons of the Mongoose Dibbs Freestyle Bike

The Mongoose Dibbs Freestyle bike is a single speed freestyle bike that is designed for intermediate riders to perform tricks.  Thanks to its reinforced Mongoose street frame, the Mongoose Dibbs Freestyle Bike is lightweight and easy to learn on.  It also features front and rear freestyle pegs, which is perfect for reenacting your favorite scenes from the classic film BMX Bandits.  The alloy rims look incredibly slick featuring 72 radial spokes.

The entire look of the bike frame is very aggressive, and thanks to the tight angles it provides a lot of foot clearance which will make it great for tricks.  A lot of entry level BMX bikes like the Mongoose Dibbs Freestyle Bike receive complaints about stem slipping, but that does not seem to be an issue with the Mongoose Dibbs Freestyle Bike thanks to a solid alloy 4 bolt stem.  There is also a cable detangler, so when you are doing tricks you don’t have to worry about getting tangled up at all.  The grips however could do with an upgrade, as well as the pedals.

Another upgrade you may want to consider are the tires.  They are fine, but more advanced riders will likely feel the need to upgrade them sooner rather than later.  They are still solid though and will easily withstand heavy daily use from beginning to intermediate BMX riders.

Other than those minor issues though, the Mongoose Dibbs Freestyle Bike is incredibly solid at a great price.  If you are looking to take your skills to the next level, the Mongoose Dibbs Freestyle Bike is a great bike to practice on until you are ready for a higher end bike.  The Mongoose Dibbs Freestyle bike is a great bike to start out on because it affords you lots of room to grow while not being too much bike either by price or by skill level.
