Georgia’s Triple Threat Ski Resorts; Bigger, Better and More Beautiful Than Ever

1647

Skiing is one of the most incredible extreme sports on Earth. Not only is it a way to connect with nature but it also forces us to push the boundaries of our human capabilities. This is why the renovation and upgrade of the Georgia mountain ski resorts is such an exciting development for the global skiing collective as well as holidaymakers and even novices.  The resorts are set to be ready for the grand opening on 25th December and boast a triple collective of some of the hottest skiing spots in the country.

It’s one thing to love skiing but it doesn’t hurt to enjoy the perks that come with these venues also playing host to thousands of expected tourists. Expect excellent accommodation, better infrastructure, the opening of new tracks for skiing and an amazing trip to some of the best resorts that Georgia has on offer including: Gudauri, Mestia and Bakuriani.

Skiing in Mestia

With an average temperature of 5.7°C (and a peak of 17.5°C in the summer months), Mestia is certainly cold and has a long winter, making it perfect for the avid skier.  You’ll find it nestled in the Caucasus Mountains with an impressive skiing height of 1,500 meters which is perfect for intermediate skiers. It also has infrastructure closer to the bottom that caters for beginners.

However, skiing is not the only extreme sports activity for adrenaline junkies. There are a range of other extreme sports with any number of locals ready to get involved!  They often show travelers the local style, particularly on the Hatsvali Mountains. Expect a liberal dose of culture on your trip in the form of arts and crafts as well as rituals and ceremonies performed by those native to the area. Another highlight are the newly renovated and heated pools.

Skiing in Bakuriani

If you’re looking for group skiing or want to take the family along, Bakuriani is perfect. Difficulty levels range from track 1 to track 12 allowing anyone a chance to get started or enjoy the slopes at a level they are comfortable with. Known for the food and the spectacular sights, this resort is an exciting destination for those who love extreme sports in winter.

With an altitude of 1,700 meters, it slightly trumps Mestia in terms of slope length. New Year bookings are higher than they’ve ever been in the past as the area warms up for season. This is a sweet spot if you’re looking for variety with a skating ring having been recently added and quadricycle tours Thabatskuri-Bakuriani.  You can also get involved in some horse-riding and snowboarding to change things up a little.

All-in-all, this should be an exciting development for all sporting enthusiasts looking for something a bit more extreme than your average game of cricket. With a newly built visitors arena and added tourism infrastructure, Georgia will be the best place to hit the slopes this summer. I suggest getting your booking complete before everyone else does. It’s going to be a sweet ride for all those looking for a winter extreme sports adventure.
